The office of Zoning Officer of the Borough
of Franklin Lakes is hereby created. The Zoning Officer shall be appointed
by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Council and shall
hold office until January 1 next following the appointment or until
a successor is appointed. Any vacancy in the office shall be filled
only for the unexpired portion of the term.
The Zoning Officer shall have the following
duties and responsibilities:
A.
Enforcement of the Borough's zoning ordinances.
B.
Enforcement of the Borough's property maintenance
ordinances.
C.
Review all building permits and change of use applications
for compliance with the Borough's zoning ordinances.
D.
Consultation with residents requesting information
on zoning regulations and functions of the Planning Board and Zoning
Board of Adjustment.
E.
Such other duties and responsibilities as may be set
forth in Borough ordinances or as may be requested by the Mayor and
Council.
As permitted by law, the Zoning Officer shall
have the right to enter any building or premises during reasonable
daytime hours in the performance of his or her duties. The Zoning
Officer shall have full enforcement powers for enforcement of zoning
and property maintenance ordinances, including the authority to issue
summonses.
