The City Physician and the Assistant City Physician shall be under the immediate jurisdiction and direction of the Director of the Division of Human Resources, and the officers shall render all necessary professional aid and skill to all indigent persons and paupers residing in the City of Hoboken as may call upon them for that purpose or such as the Welfare Director, under the direction of the Director of the Division of Human Resources, may direct.

The City Physician and the Assistant City Physician may be removed for malpractice and neglect of duty or for any just cause after notice and hearing according to law and shall hold office from the first Monday in May after their appointment until their successors shall be appointed and sworn into office, unless sooner removed.
