There shall be a Department of Public Works, the head of which
shall be the Director, who shall be appointed by the Township Manager.
Prior to his appointment, the Director shall be qualified through
training and experience in public works administration. The Department
shall be responsible for the following:
The Department shall:
A.
Provide for the construction, reconstruction, maintenance and repair
of all public streets.
B.
Provide for the construction, reconstruction, maintenance and repair
of all storm sewers and drainage areas.
C.
Regulate street openings and construction alteration and repair of
sidewalks, curbs and gutters.
D.
Clean all municipal streets.
E.
Remove snow from all municipal streets.
F.
Arrange for streetlighting.
The Department shall:
A.
Care for all playgrounds and Township-owned or leased grounds, including
the trees, lawns and landscaping appurtenant to Township-owned or
leased buildings, and the recreational areas and facilities.
B.
Provide for the pruning, trimming, removal and planting of shade
trees in the streets and all other public places.
C.
Provide custodial and janitorial services for all Township-owned
or leased buildings.
D.
Operate and maintain Township-owned properties, including tax-foreclosed
property.
The Department of Public Works shall supervise the water and
sewer utility lines in the Township of Eastampton.
