The purpose of the Rental Grievance Committee shall be to monitor
compliance of the rules and regulations of the Borough and all other
laws whether they be of a state, federal or local level which pertains
to Rental Grievance Committees and to further hear all complaints
under such rules and regulations.
A.Â
There is hereby created a Rental Grievance Committee whose members
shall be appointed by the Mayor, with the advice and consent of the
Borough Council. The Committee shall consist of seven members and
one alternate.
B.Â
Each member shall serve for a period of two years. One of the members
shall be an owner of an apartment complex, one an owner of a mobile
home complex in the Borough, one shall be a tenant of an apartment
complex, one a tenant or owner of a mobile home. The remaining three
members shall be responsible citizens of the Borough who shall be
neither a landlord nor tenant, one of whom shall be selected to be
Chairperson of the Committee by the full membership of the Committee.
The number of members hearing any application or grievance brought
before the Committee shall not exceed five. The five sitting at any
one time shall consist of the three responsible citizens and, dependent
upon whether the grievance or application pertains to an apartment
complex or a mobile home, those two members whose interest involves
the subject matter pending.
