The Fredon Volunteer Fire Company, Inc., (hereinafter "FVFC") is recognized as the Township's official volunteer fire company for the purpose of providing fire protection and other emergency services and as the Township's official volunteer medical services company for the purpose of providing first aid and emergency medical response services to the residents of the Township and such other persons who may experience injury or illness within the Township. The members of any such company shall be under the supervision and control of said municipality. No other firefighting organization is to be formed within the Township without consent of the Township Committee. FVFC must comply with all the requirements of this chapter.
Any person seeking to join either the Fredon Volunteer Fire Company or the Fredon First Responders shall make application to the entity, which application shall be considered in accordance with the bylaws, rules, and regulations of the organization into which membership is sought. After approval of membership and confirmation by the Township Committee, a new member's name shall be entered on the rolls kept by the Township Clerk of members of the organization being joined.
The Township Clerk shall perform such acts as may be necessary for the Fredon Volunteer Fire Company, Inc., and the Fredon First Responders to be recognized within the state as the official municipal agencies charged with their respective responsibilities.
The Fredon Volunteer Fire Company and the Fredon First Responders may enact such incident command structures as may be appropriate and authorized by State regulation and policy of the National Fire Protection Association or similar body. During any emergency within the Township in which either the Fredon Volunteer Fire Company or Fredon First Responders are called out, the incident commander of either unit may, in the performance of his or her duties and as may be necessary for the protection of health, life, and property, prohibit persons, vehicles, or other objects from approaching the scene of the emergency and may remove or cause to be removed from the scene any person, vehicle, or object that may impede or interfere with the operations of the Fredon Volunteer Fire Company or Fredon First Responders.
It shall be unlawful for any person to interfere with, attempt to interfere with, or obstruct or restrict the mobility of any member of the Fredon Volunteer Fire Company or Fredon First Responders performing their duties pursuant to this section, including vehicles employed by such members in their duties.
Any person willfully failing or refusing to comply with any lawful order or direction of a member of either the Fredon Volunteer Fire Company or Fredon First Responders acting pursuant to this section, or who violates the provisions of § 85-5 hereof, shall, upon conviction thereof, be subject to a fine in the amount of $1,000 for either a first or second violation, and for a third and subsequent violation, a term of imprisonment of 90 days.

It shall be the responsibility of the Chief of the FVFC or his designee to make monthly reports to Township Committee about equipment, grounds, apparatus, and all aspects finance, including current and planned expenditures.

Township Committee shall supply to the FVFC funding at its discretion, based upon the needs of FVFC, and taking into account funds raised by this volunteer organization.

The Township of Fredon shall retain ownership and control over fire equipment, materials, supplies, etc., entrusted to the FVFC. The Township of Fredon shall retain title to all equipment purchased with funds supplied by Township Committee for the purpose of purchasing such equipment. However, nothing shall preclude the FVFC from purchasing its own fire equipment or other personal property and retaining title thereof; provided, however, that if the Township shall have a financial responsibility toward the purchase, operation or maintenance of such items, prior formal approval of Township Committee for such purchase shall be required.

For good cause, Committee may reprimand, suspend, or remove any member or officer of the FVFC.

The Township Committee shall appoint, at its discretion, an advisory board to the department, which shall consist of two adult individuals as chosen by the Township Committee at reorganization annually or on such other meeting date as set by the Township Committee.
