As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
ACCEPTABLE WASTE MATERIAL (AWM)
The collective term that describes the acceptable types of refuse that will be collected by the City, or its designated contractor(s). Specifically, AWM is residential waste, bulky waste, white goods, yard waste, and recyclable materials.
AUTHORIZED CONTAINERS/RECEPTACLES
Only two solid waste containers per account are authorized to be placed curbside for waste collection:

A. 
One ninety-six- (or thirty-five-) gallon, serialized, rolling trash container (hereinafter referred to as a "rolling trash container"); and
B. 
One ninety-six- (or thirty-five-) gallon, serialized, rolling single-stream recyclable (SSR) container (hereinafter referred to as a "SSR container").
BUILDING AND CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS/DEBRIS
Any materials from excavating, demolishing, constructing, altering, renovating or repairing any buildings or property; as well as items used to alter, fabricate, repair, or refurbish a structure or property, such as wood, brick, concrete, earth, ceiling tile, plaster, drywall, sheathing, tar paper, shingles, windows, doors, siding, etc.
BULKY HOUSEHOLD ITEMS/BULKY WASTE
Any item that is not placed within the rolling trash container such that the lid is considered closed (contents not visible), such as chairs, sofas, mattresses, box springs, pieces of furniture, white goods, tires or bagged or bundled residential waste.
COMMINGLED RECYCLABLE MATERIALS
Commingling is the act of mixing together all types of recyclable materials into a single container without separating them into common material types, such as through the use of plastic or paper bags, which would be a violation of this chapter.
HAZARDOUS MATERIALS/WASTE
Any material prohibited in the solid waste stream, such as antifreeze, batteries, electronic devices (televisions, computers, monitors, or similar items), liquid paints, solvents, oil- and petroleum-based liquids, pesticides, herbicides and similar (or related) items.
MULTI-DWELLING UNIT
A property (such as an apartment building) having more than one tenant.
NOTICE OF PENDING COMPLAINT (NOPC)
A Department of Public Works form letter that may be issued at the discretion of the Director of Public Works for a violation of this chapter for multi-dwelling-unit properties, requiring a written reply within a specified time period.
RECYCLABLE MATERIALS
Such materials as specified by the City of Bridgeton through regulations promulgated by the Department of Public Works. Typically, recyclable materials includes (but is not limited to) types of glass, plastic, paper, and corrugated cardboard.
RESIDENTIAL WASTE/TRASH
Any unwanted, or discarded, material, produced (or created) as a direct result of residential occupancy of a property, that is placed within an authorized container. Residential waste includes, but is not limited to, garbage, food containers, packing materials, or other such refuse.
UNACCEPTABLE WASTE MATERIAL (UWM)
The collective term that describes the unacceptable types of refuse that will not be collected by the City, or its designated contractor(s). Typically, UWM includes (but is not limited to) building and construction materials, hazardous materials, motor vehicle parts (excluding tires), dead animals, etc.
WASTE MATERIAL
The collective term that describes both acceptable and unacceptable waste types.
WHITE GOODS
Bulky household appliances, such as stoves, refrigerators, washers or dryers, dishwashers, hot-water heaters, microwave ovens, air conditioners, etc.
YARD WASTE
The collective term that describes materials such as grass clippings, leaves, brush, or tree limbs, etc.
