[HISTORY: Adopted by the City of Gardner at the City election

An Assessing Department in the City of Gardner is hereby established
under the charge of a board of three Assessors.
A. The Mayor
shall appoint a City Assessor who will also serve on the Board of
Assessors and two additional members of the Board of Assessors, each
for a term of three years, subject to confirmation by the City Council.
A vacancy occurring may be filed at any time for the unexpired term
by the Mayor, subject to confirmation by the City Council. Nothing
contained herein shall be construed to prevent the reappointment of
any member upon the expiration of his term of office. Before entering
upon the discharge of their duties, the members shall be sworn to
the faithful discharge thereof.

B. Each year
at its first meeting the Board shall organize and elect a Chairperson.
C. The Assessors
shall perform, or cause to be performed, all the duties required of
assessors under the General Laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
and shall be subject to said General Laws, as well as to the Charter
and ordinances of the City of Gardner.
D. The City
Assessor shall serve full time as an Assessor, while the other two
members shall be part-time Assessors.

E. The Board
shall meet with any person filing an application for abatement or
his attorney upon request for such a meeting.
The salary of the Assessors and other employees of the Assessing
Department shall be established in the ordinances designating salaries
and wages for the City employees.
