Any new full-time or permanent part-time employee that has been offered a position in the City of Gardner will be required to submit to a physical examination prior to beginning work.
A. 
A City-designated physician shall conduct all preemployment examinations. The Human Resources Department or the department head will be responsible for setting up the appointment.

B. 
At the time of the exam, the City-designated physician will be provided with all the necessary information to be able to make an informed judgment as to the employee's current fitness to perform the required duties.
The employee must bring in the original copy of the preemployment screening report prior to the employee's first day on the job.
The City will be billed for all costs associated with the physical.
This article shall not apply to elected officials.
