[HISTORY: Adopted by the City Council of the City of Port Republic 2-26-1981 by Ord. No. 03-1981 (Ch. 15 of the 1982 Code). Amendments noted where applicable.]
The Mayor shall forthwith appoint four Commissioners who shall be residents and legal voters of the City of Port Republic, not more than two of whom shall be of the same political party, to fix and define the lines and boundaries of the wards.
The Commissioners shall, within 10 days after their appointment, take and subscribe an oath that they will faithfully and impartially perform the duties imposed upon them.
The Commissioners shall, within 60 days after their appointment, make their report to the City Council of the City of Port Republic and file the report with the City Clerk, and the report shall remain a record of the City Clerk. The report shall be attested and certified by the Commissioners under their hands and shall contain the following:
A. 
A proper description of the boundaries and dividing lines of the wards of the City of Port Republic, with due regard to equality of population and the one-man, one-vote principle.
B. 
A statement of the population of each ward as nearly as can be ascertained.
C. 
A map showing the lines and extent and boundaries of the wards.
The acts of a majority of the Commissioners shall be deemed to be the acts of all, and a report attested to and certified by a majority of the Commissioners shall be considered the report of the Commissioners. Should the Commissioners be unable to agree by majority vote, the Mayor of the City of Port Republic shall have the deciding vote.
Ten days after the making and the filing of the report with the City Clerk, the lines and boundaries of the wards of the City of Port Republic shall be as set forth in the report of the Commissioners, and all other and former ward lines and boundaries shall thereupon be abolished. The wards so designated by the Commissioners in the report shall be and continue to be the wards of the City of Port Republic, and thereafter all officers elected or appointed in the City of Port Republic, for or representing the wards thereof, shall be appointed for or elected from the wards as fixed by the report.
The necessary expenses of the Commissioners and the Compensation for their services, if any, shall be made by the City Council of Port Republic, by resolution, at the next regularly scheduled meeting of City Council after the Commissioners file their report.
