A. 
Director of Public Works authorized to procure and erect signs and signals. Pursuant to § 349.065, Wis. Stats., the Director of Public Works or his/her designee is hereby authorized and directed to procure, erect and maintain appropriate standard traffic signs, signals and markings conforming to the rules of the State Department of Transportation giving such notice of the provisions of this chapter as required by state law. Signs shall be erected in such locations and manner as the Director of Public Works shall determine will best effect the purpose of this chapter and give adequate warning to users of the street or highway.

B. 
Removal of unofficial signs and signals. The Director of Public Works or his/her designee shall have the authority granted by § 349.09, Wis. Stats., and is hereby directed to order the removal of a sign, signal, marking or device placed, maintained or displayed in violation of this section or § 346.41, Wis. Stats. Any charge imposed on a premises for removal of such an illegal sign, signal or device shall be reported to the City Council at its next regular meeting for review and certification.

C. 
Installation of official stop signs at railway grade crossings. Pursuant to § 349.085, Wis. Stats., it is hereby deemed necessary for the public safety that there be installation of official stop signs as determined by City authorities.

D. 
Parking spaces for physically disabled. Signs identifying parking spaces reserved for vehicles used by physically disabled persons shall contain information required by Wisconsin Statutes and the Administrative Code.

Adult school crossing guards, the location of whom shall be determined by the Advisory Parking and Traffic Board, shall be appointed by the City Manager or the Manager's designee. The number and compensation of adult school crossing guards shall be determined by the City Council. Adult school crossing guards shall direct and guide children at street and railroad crossings where assigned. They shall not have the power of arrest. All crossing guards shall be furnished with standard insignia and with standard signs to direct traffic to stop at school crossings. The training and supervision of adult school crossing guards shall be under the direction of the Chief of Police and the Chief's designee.

Any forfeiture bond amount, penalty assessment if required by § 757.05, Wis. Stats., a jail assessment if required by § 302.46(1), Wis. Stats., plus any applicable fees prescribed in Ch. 814, Wis. Stats., for violation of the state statutes adopted by reference in § 630-1 of this chapter shall conform to the forfeiture bond amount permitted. Such bond amount to be imposed for violation of such statutes is set forth in the State of Wisconsin Revised Uniform State Traffic Deposit Schedule of the Wisconsin Judicial Conference, including any variations or increases for subsequent offenses. The forfeiture for violation of any statute adopted by reference hereunder for which the penalty is a forfeiture shall not exceed the maximum fine permitted under such statute.

Any person found to be in violation of any parking violation shall be subject to a penalty as provided in the Parking Deposit Schedule, or if the Parking Deposit Schedule does not include a penalty for the particular violation, shall be subject to a penalty as provided in § 1-4 of this Code.
