A certain document, three copies of which are on file on the office of the Secretary of Bridgewater Township, being marked and designated as the International Residential Code, 2003 Edition, including Appendix Chapters A through L (See International Residential Code, Section R102.5, 2003 Edition.), as published by the International Code Council, be and is hereby adopted as the Residential Code of Susquehanna County, in the State of Pennsylvania, for regulating and governing the construction, alteration, movement, enlargement, replacement, repair, equipment, location, removal and demolition of detached one- and two-family dwellings and multiple single-family dwellings (townhouses) not more than threes stories in height with a separate means of egress as herein provided; providing for the issuance of permits and collection of fees therefor; and each and all of the regulations, provisions, penalties, conditions and terms of said Residential Code on file in the office of the Bridgewater Township are hereby referred to, adopted, and made a part hereof, as if fully set out in this article, with the additions, insertions, deletions, and changes, if any, prescribed in § 144-8 of this article.
The following sections are hereby revised:
Section R101.1 Title. These provisions shall be known as the "Residential Code for One- and Two-Family Dwellings of Bridgewater Township" and shall be cited as such and will be referred to herein as "this code."
Section R113.4 Violation penalties. Any person who violates or permits a violation of this code shall, upon conviction in a summary proceeding brought before a Magisterial District Judge under the Pennsylvania Rules of Criminal Procedure, be guilty of a summary offense and shall be punishable by a fine of not more than $1,000, plus costs of prosecution. In default of payment thereof, the defendant may be sentenced to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 90 days. Each day or portion thereof that such violation continues or is permitted to continue shall constitute a separate offense, and each section of this code that is violated shall also constitute a separate offense.
Section P2603.6.1 Sewer depth. Building sewers that connect to private sewage disposal systems shall be installed in accordance with Pennsylvania Act 537.[2]
Section P3103.1 Roof extension. All open vent pipes which extend through a roof shall be terminated at least 16 Inches above the roof or two Inches above the anticipated snow accumulation, except that where a roof is to be used for any purpose other than weather protection, the vent extensions shall be run at least seven feet (2,134 mm) above the roof.

The fees for activities and services performed by the Department in carrying out its responsibilities under this code shall be as indicated by a schedule to be determined by the Township, which shall be amended by resolution from time to time.

Nothing in this article or in the Residential Code hereby adopted shall be construed to affect any suit or proceeding impending in any court, or any rights acquired, or liability incurred, or any cause or causes of action acquired or existing, under any act or ordinance hereby repealed as cited in § 144-8 of this article, nor shall any just or legal right or remedy of any character be lost, impaired or affected by this article.
The Secretary of Bridgewater Township is hereby ordered and directed to cause this article to be published.
