GENERAL REFERENCES
Cable television franchise — See Ch. A427.
There is hereby established a Cable Television Advisory Committee consisting of seven members who shall be appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Council. The members shall serve without compensation.
The members of the committee shall serve three-year terms.
A vacancy on the Committee shall be filled for the unexpired term in the same manner as the original appointment.
The Mayor shall appoint the Chairperson and Secretary of the Committee. The Chairperson shall conduct all meetings of the Committee. The Secretary of the Committee shall keep minutes of the meetings of the Committee and file those minutes with the Clerk after they have been adopted by the Committee.
The Committee shall have the following powers and duties:
A. 
To monitor and evaluate the performance of cable television operators in the City of Rahway.
B. 
To assess the future cable-related needs and interests of the community.
C. 
To monitor, assess and evaluate the community's level of satisfaction with its existing cable television franchise(s).
D. 
To monitor, evaluate and assess legislative, regulatory and technological developments in cable television.
E. 
To monitor, evaluate and assess the City's public, educational and governmental access channel(s) and needs.
F. 
To conduct research, make studies, conduct surveys or compile data to identify community needs and desires relating to cable television services in the community.
G. 
To assess any cable television provider's compliance with existing franchise agreements, laws and regulations.
H. 
To make recommendations to the City concerning the community's existing and future cable-related needs.
I. 
To assist the City in the renewal of any cable television franchise.
