From May 1 to October 1, inclusive, of each year, it shall be
unlawful for any person to allow any domestic animals [any of various
animals (dogs, cats, horses, etc.) domesticated by man so as to live
and breed in a tame condition] to swim in or otherwise enter into
any of the water of the Egg Harbor City Lake or any of the waters
of any of the streams or tributaries thereof that supply water to
or otherwise feed the Egg Harbor City lake. The prohibition set forth
herein shall apply without regard to whether or not the subject waters
are adjacent to a beach that is protected by lifeguards.
Any person violating the provisions of this article, upon conviction
thereof, shall be punished by a fine not exceeding $1,250 or imprisonment
in the county jail for a term not to exceed 90 days, or both. In the
event that more than one animal is involved in any alleged violation
of this article, it shall be considered a separate offense and violation
of this article per each animal so involved.
