The purpose of this article is to prohibit the smoking or carrying
of lighted tobacco products within any public building owned and operated
by Jackson Township. It is determined by the governing body that said
ban is imposed to protect the health, safety and welfare of any individual
using said facilities.
This article prohibits smoking or carrying of lighted tobacco
in any public building owned and operated by Jackson Township. This
shall include all offices, meeting rooms and other enclosed areas
of municipal buildings and facilities.
This article is adopted in accordance with the provisions of
N.J.S.A. 2C:33-13b in order to prohibit the smoking or carrying of
lighted tobacco products in order to fulfill the enforcement provisions
of said statute. Individuals violating the provisions of this article
shall be subject to the penalties provided in Title 2C of the New
Jersey statutes and shall further be subject to appropriate Township
disciplinary procedures as a result of violating this Township law
and policy.
Notice of said prohibition shall be placed in conspicuous places
within the various municipal buildings and facilities.
