A.
A commission known as the "Hatfield Township Fire Commission" is
hereby established and shall consist of eight members, as follows:
(1)
One representative from each Colmar and Hatfield Fire Companies to
be appointed by the respective fire company;
(2)
Three residents at-large from Hatfield Township, serving staggered
three-year terms, appointed by the Board of Commissioners;
(3)
One member of the Board of Commissioners who serves the Public Safety
Committee, to be appointed by the Public Safety Committee;
(4)
The Hatfield Township Fire Marshal; and
(5)
The Hatfield Township Manager.
B.
The Commission shall have five voting members: the two representatives
from the fire companies and the three at-large resident members.
C.
The chairperson of the Commission shall be one of the three at-large
resident members, as elected by the five voting members.
The Commission shall meet, at a minimum, on a quarterly basis,
or as frequently as required by the Commission, the Public Safety
Committee or the Board of Commissioners.
The Board of Commissioner member of the Commission, the Fire
Marshal and the Township Manager shall be advisory to the Commission
and shall act as the education and information resources to the Commission.
The duty of the Commission shall be to assess and advise the
Hatfield Township Public Safety Committee on the current and future
needs for fire protection for Hatfield Township, and on how best to
meet the need.
