The Borough of Mount Union hereby elects to join the Municipal
Police Retirement System, established by the Act of July 31, 1968,
No. 291, and does hereby agree to be bound by all the requirements
and provisions of the said Act and to assume all obligations, financial
and otherwise, placed upon member municipalities by the said Act.
The Borough of Mount Union does hereby incorporate the said
Municipal Police Retirement Law as a part of this article insofar
as the said Act, as amended, applies to a member municipality.
The Borough of Mount Union does hereby terminate the existing
police pension fund, adopted by Resolution No. 289, dated December
4, 1946, and all amendments relative thereto, with respect to the
membership of those, numbering at least 75% of all members, who have
elected to join the Municipal Police Retirement System and of policemen
employed by the Borough of Mount Union on and after the effective
membership entry date (January 1, 1972) contained in this article,
provided that any person who was a member of the existing police pension
fund on September 30, 1968, which was created under the provisions
of the Act of May 29, 1956 (P.L. 1804), as amended, who elects to
join the Municipal Police Retirement System shall have the same entitlement
to benefits as he had as a member of the existing police pension fund.
A duly certified copy of this article shall be filed with the
Municipal Employees Retirement Board. Membership for the Borough of
Mount Union in the Municipal Police Retirement System shall be effective
the 1st day of January, A.D., 1972.

The Borough Council of the Borough of Mount Union, Pennsylvania,
hereby authorizes appropriation of monies in the Mount Union Borough
Police Pension Fund which are in excess, after payment of all other
obligations as outlined above, to reduce the member contributions
of the Mount Union Borough full-time policemen to the Pennsylvania
Municipal Police Retirement System to the extent possible.
