The following structures shall be equipped with a key lock box
at or near the main entrance or such other location as required by
the Fire Chief:
A. All commercial or industrial buildings identified by the fire officials
as difficult to access during emergencies.
B. All buildings within the Town of Genesee having an automatic alarm
system or equipped with an automatic fire suppression system, except
one- and two-family owner-occupied dwellings.
C. Multifamily residential structures, including senior citizen apartment/condominium
complexes, that have restricted access through locked doors and have
a common corridor for access to the living units.
D. All other buildings as recommended by the Fire Chief and required
by the Town Plan Commission or Town Board.
All new construction subject to this article shall have the
key lock box installed and operational prior to the issuance of an
occupancy permit.
All structures in existence on the effective date of this article
and subject to this article shall have one year from the effective
date of this article to have an entry key lock box installed and operational
in a location as approved by the Fire Chief.
The owner or operator of a structure required to have a key
lock box shall, at all times, keep a key or keys in the lock box that
will allow for complete and unobstructed access to the structure interior.
These keys are to be marked and identified in a manner approved by
the Fire Chief.
