This Chapter 27 shall be known and may be cited as the Doylestown Borough Zoning Ordinance of 1985.

The purpose of this Chapter is the promotion of the public health,
safety, comfort, convenience, order and general welfare by:
1.
Encouraging the most appropriate use of land.
2.
Preventing the overcrowding of land.
3.
Conserving the value of land and buildings.
4.
Lessening congestion in the roads and streets.
5.
Avoiding undue congestion of population.
6.
Providing for adequate light and air.
7.
Securing safety from fire, panic, and other dangers.
8.
Facilitating the adequate provision of transportation, water, sewerage,
schools, parks and other facilities.
9.
Giving reasonable consideration, among other things, to the character
of the district and its suitability for particular uses.
10.
Giving effect to the policies and proposals of the Doylestown Borough
Comprehensive Plan.

In interpreting and applying the provisions of this Chapter,
they shall be held to be the minimum requirements for the promotion
of the public health, safety, comfort, convenience, order and general
welfare. Where the provisions of this Chapter impose greater restrictions
than those of any statute, other ordinance, or regulation, the provisions
of this Chapter shall control. Where the provisions of any statute,
other ordinance, or regulation impose greater restrictions than this
Chapter, the provisions of such statute, ordinance, or regulation
shall control.
