A. 
Pursuant to the provisions of N.J.S.A. 40A:9-141, there is hereby created the office of Municipal Tax Collector.
B. 
The office of Municipal Tax Collector shall be filled by appointment as provided by law. The term of the Municipal Tax Collector shall be four years from the first day of January next following his appointment.
C. 
The salary of the Municipal Tax Collector shall be as fixed in the Salary Ordinance[1] of the Code of the Township of Buena Vista. Additional fees may be approved by the Township Committee.

The Tax Collector shall:
A. 
Perform the functions of a collector of taxes, including, without limitation thereto, the rendering of bills for property taxes and the conducting of tax sales.
B. 
Receive and collect all current and delinquent real property taxes, tax sale fees and charges, and receive penalties and interest thereon.
C. 
Deposit to the credit of the Township all moneys received, in the depositories selected by the Township Committee, within the time prescribed by law.
D. 
Maintain full and complete records and accounts of sums collected and received under the supervision of the Township Auditor and in accordance with the standards and requirements of the Division of Local Finance in the Department of Community Affairs of the State of New Jersey.
E. 
Submit a report to the Township Committee at least once a month of all receipts and deposits made by him and, in such report, account for all moneys for which he is responsible.
