The provisions of this article shall apply except when it is necessary to stop a vehicle to avoid conflict with other traffic or in compliance with the directions of a police officer or official traffic control device.

A. 
No person shall park a vehicle at any time upon any of the streets or parts thereof described in Schedule XI (§ TC11-55), attached to and made part of this Traffic Code.
B. 
General stopping, standing or parking prohibitions. Except when necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic, except when otherwise indicated by official signs, markings, or parking meters, or except when in compliance with law or the directions of a police officer or official traffic-control device, no person shall stop, stand or park a vehicle in the unincorporated areas of the Town of North Hempstead:
(1) 
On the roadway side of any vehicle stopped, standing or parked at the edge of a curb of a street (i.e., no double parking).
(2) 
On a sidewalk.
(3) 
Within an intersection, except when permitted by official signs or parking meters on the side of a highway opposite a street which intersects but does not cross such highway.
(4) 
On a crosswalk.
(5) 
Alongside or opposite any street excavation or obstruction when stopping, standing or parking would obstruct traffic.
(6) 
Upon any bridge or other elevated structure upon a highway or within a highway tunnel.
(7) 
On any railroad tracks.
(8) 
In the area between roadways of a divided highway, including crossovers, except in an emergency.
(9) 
Within 15 feet of a fire hydrant.
(10) 
More than 12 inches from the curb or edge of the roadway.
(11) 
On any bicycle lane or portion thereof.

C. 
General standing or parking prohibitions. Except when necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic, except when otherwise indicated by official signs, markings or parking meters, or except when in compliance with law or the directions of a police officer or official traffic-control device, no person shall stand or park a vehicle in the unincorporated areas of the Town of North Hempstead:
(1) 
In front of a public or private driveway.
(2) 
Within 30 feet upon the approach to any flashing signal, stop or yield sign or traffic control signal located at the side of the roadway.
(3) 
Within 20 feet of the driveway entrance to any fire station and, when on the side of the street opposite the entrance of any fire station, within 75 feet of said entrance, when properly signposted.

No person shall park a commercial vehicle at any time upon any of the streets or parts thereof described in Schedule XII (§ TC12-56A), attached to and made a part of this Traffic Code, or, between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., upon any street or part thereof within any residence district on the Building Zone Map of the Town of North Hempstead. For purposes of this section, the term "commercial vehicle" shall mean any vehicle with APPORTIONED, BUS, TAXI, T&LC, FARM, LIVERY, SCHOOL, TOW TRUCK, TRACTOR, TRAILER, SPEC. COMM. or COMMERCIAL number plates from the State of New York, or the equivalent type of number plate from any other state, district, territory or foreign country.
No person shall park a taxicab at any time upon any of the streets or parts thereof described in Schedule XIII (§ TC13-57), attached to and made a part of this Traffic Code.
No person shall stop a vehicle upon any of the streets or parts of streets described in Schedule XIV (§ TC14-58), attached to and made a part of this Traffic Code.
No person shall stand a vehicle upon any of the streets or parts of streets described in Schedule XV (§ TC15-59), attached to and made a part of this Traffic Code.
No person shall park a vehicle between the hours specified in Schedule XVI (§ TC16-60) of any day, unless otherwise indicated, upon any of the streets or parts of streets described in said Schedule XVI, attached to and made a part of this Traffic Code.
No person shall stop a vehicle during the times specified in Schedule XVII (§ TC17-61) of any day, unless otherwise indicated, upon any of the streets or parts of streets described in said Schedule XVII, attached to and made a part of this Traffic Code.
No person shall stand a vehicle during the times specified in Schedule XVIII (§ TC18-62) of any day, unless otherwise indicated, upon any of the streets or parts of streets described in said Schedule XVIII, attached to and made a part of this Traffic Code.
No person shall park a vehicle for longer than the time limit shown in Schedule XIX (§ TC19-63) at any time between the hours listed in said Schedule XIX of any day, unless otherwise indicated, upon any of the streets or parts of streets described in said Schedule XIX, attached to and made a part of this Traffic Code.
No person shall park a vehicle upon any of the streets or parts thereof described in Schedule XX (§ TC20-64), except at the angle designated and only within the painted stall lines. On all streets or portions thereof where angle parking is now or shall hereafter be authorized, all vehicles parked thereon shall be parked with the front thereof nearest the curb.
The locations described in Schedule XXI (§ TC21-65), attached to and made a part of this Traffic Code, are hereby designated as loading zones.
The locations described in Schedule XXII (§ TC22-66), attached to and made a part of this Traffic Code, are hereby designated as taxi stands.
The locations described in Schedule XXIII (§ TC23-67), attached to and made a part of this Traffic Code, are hereby designated as bus stops.
No person shall park a vehicle during a snow emergency on any of the streets or parts thereof described in Schedule XXVII (§ TC27-71), attached to and made a part of this Traffic Code.
