A.Â
The intent
of the Board of Trustees of the Village of Castleton-on-Hudson is
to abolish and terminate the Castleton-on-Hudson Village Court System
and the position of Village Justice pursuant to its authority under
Village Law §§ 3-301, 3-302 and 3-303. It is the intent
of the Board of Trustees of the Village of Castleton-on-Hudson to
immediately terminate the Village Justice position which is due for
election on March 18, 2014.
B.Â
On April
1, 2014, the Castleton-on-Hudson Village Court will cease to exist
and the remaining Acting Village Justice, Village Court Clerk and
all supportive personnel and services will terminate.
Effective April 1, 2014, the Village Justice position due for
election on March 18, 2014, will terminate. Effective April 1, 2014,
the Acting Village Justice, the Village Court Clerk, all Village Court
personnel and the Castleton-on-Hudson Village Court System shall cease
to exist.
On or after April 1, 2014, all matters necessitating the intervention
of the local justice court system, both criminal and civil actions,
originating in the Village of Castleton-on-Hudson or once adjudicated
in the Castleton-on-Hudson Village Court System shall be docketed
in the Town of Schodack Justice Court.
Within five days of the effective date of this article, the
Village Clerk shall file a copy of this article with the Clerk of
the Town of Schodack and with the State Office of Court Administration.
