The Village Clerk, when authorized by the President and Board of Trustees, may appoint one Deputy Clerk, to serve for such term as the Clerk, with the advice and consent of the Board, may deem appropriate.
Before entering upon the duties of his or her office, the Deputy Clerk shall execute a bond in an amount as shall be determined by the Village Board.
The Deputy Clerk may execute all documents required by law to be executed by the Village Clerk and may affix the seal of the Clerk wherever required. In signing any document, the Deputy Clerk shall sign the name of the Village Clerk followed with the word "By" and the Deputy Clerk's own name and the words "Deputy Clerk."
The rate of compensation of the Deputy Clerk shall be set by the Village Board and may be adjusted from time to time as the Board deems appropriate.
In addition to the duties assigned by the Village Clerk, the Deputy Clerk shall perform such other duties and functions as may be required by statute or code or as may be approved by the Village Board.
Nothing in this article shall be deemed to diminish or detract from the statutory powers and authority of any of the Village's elected or appointed officials.
