All hawking or selling by auction of any goods, wares or merchandise
in the streets or in any building or buildings or in any other public
place in the Village of Corinth (except judicial sales and assignees'
sales in case of general assignment for benefit of creditors) is hereby
prohibited unless a license shall have first been obtained therefor,
the fee for which shall be fixed from time to time by the Village
Board.

A. No person shall hawk or peddle any fruit, vegetables, berries, meat,
poultry, fish, farm or garden produce, teas, coffees, groceries, breads,
cakes, pastry or goods, wares or merchandise of any kind in the Village
of Corinth, New York, except the peddling of meats, fish, fruit and
farm produce by the farmers and persons who produce such commodities,
or solicit orders therefor, or cry their wares, merchandise or other
commodities in the streets and public places in the Village of Corinth,
or go from house to house therefor, without a license therefor having
first been obtained from the Village Mayor, countersigned by the Village
Clerk and the receipt of the license fee endorsed thereon by the Village
Treasurer.
B. No license shall be issued for a period of 10 days from the date
of application therefor, during which period the Mayor may cause such
investigation of the applicant to be made as the Mayor may deem advisable
in the interest of the residents of the Village of Corinth.

A. The annual license fee for hawking and/or peddling under §
318-2 shall be valid from March 1 in the year the same is issued and shall expire on the last day of February in the year following its issuance, and the annual fee therefor shall be fixed from time to time by the Village Board.
B. Licenses for hawking and/or peddling may be issued to an individual
for one day at a fee fixed from time to time by the Village Board.

All circuses, tent shows and menageries or other like exhibitions
or performances for money or hire are hereby prohibited upon the streets
or lots within the corporate limits without first obtaining a license
therefor. The license fee for each day such circus or menagerie or
like exhibition or performance shall exhibit or perform shall be fixed
from time to time by the Village Board.

Any circus, tent show, menagerie or other like exhibition or
performance which shall be held without the corporate limits of the
Village of Corinth shall not be permitted to parade in said Village
without first obtaining a license therefor, the fee for which shall
be fixed from time to time by the Village Board.
No show, concert, theatrical or sleight of hand performances
or exhibitions shall be held in the Village of Corinth, except shows,
exhibitions and concerts of a strictly local character and lectures
upon any literary, moral, religious, political or strictly scientific
subject, until a fee, fixed from time to time by the Village Board,
is paid and a license issued therefor, except that a license may be
issued to the proprietor of an opera house, theater or public hall
for an amount fixed from time to time by the Village Board.

No person whether as owner or lessee of any public hall or opera
house within the Village of Corinth shall use or let the same for
public hire without first obtaining a license therefor.

No person or persons shall conduct and carry on or run what
is known as a merry-go-round or swinging horses or devices of such
a nature within the Village of Corinth without first taking out a
license, the fee for which shall be fixed from time to time by the
Village Board.

No person or persons shall keep any shooting gallery in the
Village of Corinth without first having obtained a license therefor,
the fee for which is fixed from time to time by the Village Board.

No person, whether acting as a principal or as agent for another,
shall conduct a transient retail business in any store or other place
within the Village of Corinth for the sale of goods which shall be
represented or advertised as a bankrupt stock or as assigned stock
or as goods damaged by fire, water or otherwise, or by like representation
or device, without first taking out a license therefor. The amount
of fee for such license shall be fixed from time to time by the Village
Board. No license shall be issued for a shorter time than one month,
and such license shall be renewed monthly during the continuance of
such business.
All licenses for any trade or occupation which is prohibited
without a license shall be issued by the Mayor of the Village, specifying
the fee to be paid therefor, to such persons as he shall deem fit
or proper for such trade or occupation. But such license shall be
refused for any circus, theater or other exhibitions or performances,
shooting galleries or other similar places of amusement for money
or hire which shall, in the judgment of the Mayor, be likely to disturb
the order of the Village of Corinth or be immoral or improper. Every
such license shall be countersigned by the Clerk of the Village, who
shall keep a record thereof and of the amount of the fee to be paid
therefor; and upon presentation of such license to the Treasurer of
the Village, so signed and countersigned, and the payment to the Treasurer
of such fee, the Treasurer shall endorse thereon. Any applicant who
shall have been refused such license by the Mayor may apply to the
Board of Trustees therefor at a meeting thereof, and the same may
be granted or refused by the Board. The Mayor may suspend any such
license until the next meeting of the Board of Trustees and thereupon
said license may be revoked or continued by the Board. The sums so
paid as license fees to the Treasurer of the Village of Corinth shall
be used for Village purposes.

Any person committing an offense against the provisions of this
chapter shall be guilty of a violation under the Penal Law and, upon
conviction thereof, shall be punishable for each offense by a fine
of not more than $250 or by imprisonment for not more than 15 days,
or both.
