The Township Appraiser shall be appointed by the Township Committee
and shall hold office for a term of one year beginning on the date
of said appointment and terminating on December 31 or the appointment
of a qualified successor. The Township Appraiser shall maintain all
licenses generally required of municipal appraisers during the term
of his or her appointment.
The Township Appraiser shall undertake all tasks necessary to
prepare any reports authorized by the Township Committee in defense
of any tax appeal or to determine the value of any real property considered
for acquisition or disposition by the Township Committee. The Township
Appraiser shall render all advice regarding property valuation to
the Township Tax Assessor, special tax counsel, Township Attorney,
Township Committee or its authorized employees and/or agents as may
be required from time to time and as needed and supply at least once
yearly a status report on all active matters being handled by him
or her.
The Township Appraiser shall be paid normal and customary fees
charged by municipal appraisers in the State of New Jersey in the
manner and amounts set forth by contract with the Township and upon
submission of appropriate vouchers as required by law. A violation
of the New Jersey Local Government Ethics Law may result in a forfeiture of all or a portion of the
appraiser's compensation.
