[Adopted 7-15-1999 by Ord. No. 1620; amended in its entirety 4-9-2009 by Ord. No. 1817 (Ch. 5, Part 1, of the 1986 Code of Ordinances)]
An ordinance of the City of Washington adopting the 2009 edition of the International Residential Code and 2009 edition of the International Building Code, including but not limited to the regulating and governing of the construction, alteration, movement, enlargement, replacement, repair, equipment, location, removal and demolition of detached one- and two-family dwellings and multiple-family dwellings (townhouses) not more than three stories in height with separate means of egress in the City of Washington; providing for the issuance of permits and collection of fees thereof; repealing Ordinance No. 1740 of the City of Washington and all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict therewith.
This would include the requirements set forth within these two editions relating to the requirements mandated by said code relating to permits. Therefore, any owner or authorized agent who intends to construct, enlarge, alter, repair, move, demolish or change the occupancy of a building or structure, or to erect, install, enlarge, alter, repair, remove, convert or replace any electrical, gas, mechanical or plumbing system, the installation of which shall be regulated by this code, or to cause any such work to be done, shall first make application to the Building Officials and obtain the required permits.
Work exempt from permits shall be stipulated within said code under Section R105.2 of the 2009 IRC and Section 105.2 of the 2009 IBC.
Ordinance No. 1740 of the City of Washington, entitled the "City of Washington Building Code," and all other ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed so that the Code reflects all parts of the 2009 International Building Code and the 2009 International Residential Code.[1]
