This Part shall be known as and may be cited as the "Burnham
Borough Police Department Abolition Ordinance."

The Police Department of the Borough is hereby dissolved, terminated,
abolished and ended and shall cease to exist as of the effective date
of this Part.

All employees of the Borough employed in the Police Department
are hereby terminated as employees of the Borough as of the effective
date of this Part, in that the Police Department shall no longer exist
as of that effective date.

The Civil Service Commission established per the Borough Code,
the Act of February 1, 1966, P.L. 1656 (1965), No. 581, §§ 1171-1195,
53 P.S. §§ 46171-46195, as amended by resolution adopted
by the Borough Council dated January 28, 1981, and otherwise, is hereby
dissolved, terminated, abolished and ended and all ordinances and
resolutions in relation thereto and the rules and regulations thereof
are hereby repealed.

All elected and appointed officials of the Borough including,
but not limited to, the Mayor, the Council President, the Council
Vice President, the Borough Secretary and Borough Solicitor are authorized
to take all actions deemed appropriate and necessary to comply with
the intent of this Part and the dissolution, termination, abolishment
and ending of the Police Department of the Borough and the Civil Service
Commission of the Borough.

This Part shall take effect May 1, 1992.
