It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation owning or having a present interest in any real estate in the Borough to permit weeds or similar vegetation to grow or remain on premises owned by them in the Borough to a height of more than six inches above the surface of the ground.

It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation owning or having a present interest in any real estate in the Borough to permit any hedges, bushes or vines to extend past the inside line of the sidewalk along such real estate.

It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation owning or having a present interest in any real estate in the Borough to permit trees on or along such real estate or on the sidewalk adjoining the same to have untrimmed branches endangering pedestrians which extend lower than seven feet above the surface of the ground or sidewalk, or which obstruct the view of motorists or of street or traffic lighting.

All weeds, other similar vegetation, hedges, bushes, vines or tree branches permitted to grow or remain contrary to the provisions of this Part shall be cut and removed in accordance with the provisions of this Part upon notice from the Department of Ordinance Enforcement.

Any person, firm or corporation who shall fail to comply with any such notice from the Department of Ordinance Enforcement to cut and remove any such weeds, other similar vegetation, hedges, bushes, vines or tree branches within 10 days of the date of such notice shall be guilty of a violation of this Part shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of not more than $600 plus costs and, in default of payment of said fine and costs to a term of imprisonment not to exceed 30 days. Each day that a violation of this Part continues shall constitute a separate offense.

Any weeds or similar vegetation, hedges, bushes or vines and tree branches which are not cut and maintained in accordance with the provisions of this Part are hereby declared to be nuisances and detrimental to the health, safety and comfort of the inhabitants of the Borough. If any owner of real estate shall fail to cut and maintain such weeds, or similar vegetation, hedges, bushes, vines or tree branches, such weeds or similar vegetation, hedges, bushes, vines or tree branches shall be cut and removed by and under the direction of the Borough Street Department or other person designated by Council and the cost thereof, together with the penalties provided by law, shall be collected by him or by action in assumpsit or in any other manner which may be provided by law.
