A. 
License required; exception. No huckster, hawker or peddler shall sell or offer for sale any fruits or vegetables in Charles County until he shall have first taken out a license for that purpose in accordance with the provisions of this section; provided, however, that this section shall not apply to the farmers or growers selling their own fruits or vegetables.
B. 
Fee. For every such license, the Clerk of the Circuit Court of Charles County shall be paid $100 per annum. The receipts from said licenses shall be paid to the County Treasurer for the use of said County.
C. 
Penalty provisions. Any person violating the provisions of this section shall, upon conviction, be fined not less than $25, nor more than $100, to be recovered as other fines are recovered, or be imprisoned for not more than 30 days, or both.

License required; exception. No person shall sell or solicit orders for sale of any merchandise of any description, including books or periodicals, from door to door of private residences without a license; provided, however, that this section shall not apply to farmers or growers selling their own vegetables or other perishable farm produce or products or to any person regularly attending school in Charles County who is under the age of 18 years and who is selling or soliciting pursuant to a program authorized by any Charles County school or to vendors of milk or cream, bread, meat, fuels or petroleum products, fish or other seafood or newspapers. It shall be the duty of the Clerk of the Circuit Court of Charles County to issue huckster licenses to such persons as may apply for and be entitled to the same according to the provisions of this section, and the amount so received shall be paid to the County Commissioners of Charles County and be credited to the general funds of the County.
B. 
Fees; application and contents. Each applicant for such license shall pay annually a licensing fee of $100 or $25 for a one-day license for the day designated. Such license, upon issuance, shall not be transferable. The application for such license shall contain the following information concerning the applicant: name, address, name and address of employer if not self-employed, age, color of skin, color of eyes, color of hair, height, weight and a general description of the type of merchandise to be sold.
C. 
Penalty provisions. Any person violating the provisions of this section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and subject to a fine of not less than $25 nor more than $100.
