[Adopted 1-28-1992 by Ord. No. 2-92 (Ch. 60 of the 1977 Township Code)]
There is hereby established an Economic Development Committee for the Township of Eagleswood, which Committee shall consist of seven members and two alternates to be appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Township Committee.
A. 
The Mayor, with the advice and consent of the Township Committee, shall appoint two members for a one-year term, three members for a two-year term and two members for a three-year term. Upon the expiration of the initial terms of appointment, all reappointments shall be for a term of two years. Any vacancy which occurs prior to the expiration of the term for that member shall be filled for the unexpired term only.
B. 
At the first meeting of the Economic Development Committee, a Chairperson and Secretary shall be elected by a majority vote of the Committee members to serve for terms of one year.
The Committee shall be strictly an advisory council and shall perform the functions and exercise the powers hereinafter enumerated:
A. 
It will develop ways and means of attracting commercial enterprise to Eagleswood Township.
B. 
It will make recommendations to attract commercial enterprise toward the same to the Mayor and Township Committee for consideration.
C. 
The Committee shall not exercise any power of condemnation or eminent domain and shall not be authorized to pledge the credit of or to create any debt against the Township of Eagleswood or in any manner act as the agent of said Township of Eagleswood.
D. 
It shall classify vacant lands according to their adaptability for the settlement thereon of various types of commercial enterprises.
E. 
The Committee shall make a study of the tax structure with a view to reducing the tax burden on the residents of the Township of Eagleswood.
F. 
The Chairman for the Committee shall make an annual report to the Mayor and Township Committee setting forth, in detail, its operations and transactions for the preceding 12 months. The Committee shall keep complete and accurate records of its meetings.
G. 
The Committee can utilize the services of the Township Attorney and Township Engineer upon approval of the Township Committee.
H. 
The Committee is not authorized to expend any funds in its own name. Any expenditures must be approved and authorized by the Township Committee.
