The position of Deputy Borough Clerk heretofore created is hereby continued.

(a) 
The Deputy Borough Clerk shall be appointed in the manner provided for in N.J.S.A. 40:87-15.[1]

(b) 
Unless sooner removed, he shall hold office until December 31 of the year in which he was appointed and until his successor shall have qualified.

(a) 
The Deputy Borough Clerk shall have all of the powers and perform all of the duties of the Borough Clerk during such times and specific periods when the Borough Clerk is absent.
(b) 
The Deputy Borough Clerk shall act under the direction of the Borough Clerk in the performance of the duties of the Borough Clerk and in the name of the Borough Clerk. Such acts shall in all cases be legal and binding as if done and performed by the Borough Clerk.
(c) 
The Deputy Borough Clerk shall also perform such other duties as may be assigned to him by the Finance Committee of the Council and in general act as a clerical assistant.
