There is hereby created the position of "Building Inspector" for the Borough of Millvale, which position shall be filled by one individual who has basic knowledge and practical experience in the area of building construction.

The Building Inspector shall assist the Building Official and Borough Secretary in the enforcement of all provisions of the Chapter 125, Construction Codes, Uniform, Chapter 269, Streets and Sidewalks, Article III, Openings and Excavations, and Chapter 198, Occupancy Permits, as well as performing all inspections required by said ordinances, and any other inspection duties assigned to said Building Inspector by Council and/or required by various other ordinances. The Building Inspector shall advise the Building Official and/or the Borough Secretary of the necessity of any notices or orders to remove illegal or unsafe conditions, to require the necessary safeguards during construction, to require adequate exit facilities in existing buildings and structures, and to insure compliance with all requirements for the safety, health and general welfare of the public pursuant to Borough ordinances. The Building Inspector shall keep such records of applications, permits, certificates, reports of inspections and notices and orders as directed by the Borough Secretary. The Building Inspector shall report to and be supervised by the Borough Secretary, his designee and/or the Building Official.[1]
