There shall be and is hereby created a committee known as the
"Park and Recreation Advisory Committee."

The Park and Recreation Advisory Committee shall consist of
not more than 15 members, who shall be appointed by the Mayor with
the advice and consent of the Council for three-year terms, except
that the first members shall be appointed as follows: 1/3 for three
years, 1/3 for two years and the remainder for one year. All members
shall be residents of the Township and all shall serve without compensation.
The Mayor may appoint a nonmember of the Committee to serve as Secretary
to the Committee at such compensation as shall be determined by the
Council. The Township Planner, the Director of the Department of Health,
Recreation, Senior and Veterans Services, or his or her designee,
and the Director of the Department of Public Works, or his or her
designee, shall be ex officio members of the Committee. A member of
the Hamilton Township Council shall be appointed as liaison for the
Committee.

There shall be a Chairman of the Park and Recreation Advisory
Committee elected by its members, who shall serve as Chairman for
a period of one year and until his or her successor is elected. There
may be any other officers as the Committee may deem necessary.
The Park and Recreation Advisory Committee shall aid in the
planning for the development of the Township parklands in an effective,
logical and properly balanced manner so as to benefit every segment
of the total population of the Township. The Committee may periodically
review all recreational programming of the Township and may make recommendations
for the expansion of programming to provide activities to serve the
respective recreational interests of every segment of the total population
of the Township.
The Park and Recreation Advisory Committee may hold public hearings
or meetings concerning matters relating to park and recreational programs
and projects under study, with the advice and consent of the Mayor.

The Park and Recreation Advisory Committee shall make an annual
report of its activities to the Mayor and Council and periodically
make such recommendations as may be necessary to carry out the purposes
set out in this article.
