There shall be a Shade Tree Commission of the Township of Hamilton.
The Shade Tree Commission shall consist of five residents of the Township appointed by the Mayor. The terms of office of the Commission members shall commence upon the day of their appointment, and shall be for the respective periods of one, two, three, four and five years.
The Commission hereby created shall be an advisory commission, with the power and authority to advise the administration in the regulation, planting, care and control of shade and ornamental trees and shrubbery upon and in the streets, highways, public places, parks and parkways within the jurisdiction of the Township, except state highways unless the State Department of Transportation shall assent thereto, and county highways, parks and parkways unless the Mercer County Shade Tree Commission shall assent thereto, and shall exercise all powers and rights and be subject to all duties provided in N.J.S.A. 40:64-1 et seq., as amended and supplemented.
The Commission shall keep records of its meetings and activities and make a semiannual report to the Mayor and Council.
The Commission may appoint such clerks and other employees as it may from time to time require and as may be within the limits of funds appropriated to it by the Council.[1]
