Required: Any owner or authorized agent who intends to construct, enlarge, alter, repair, move, demolish, or change the occupancy of a building structure, the installation of which is regulated by this Code, or to cause any such work to be done, shall make an application to the Building Official and obtain the required permit.

The Connecticut State Building Code authorizes the municipality to establish a schedule of fees for each construction document review, building, permit, certificate of approval and certificate of occupancy. The schedule of adopted fees are in the Fee Schedule, § 37-1 of this Code, and posted on the Town of Southington's website.

A. 
Fees. The owner, contractor or agent of either of them shall pay the fees specified in the Fee Schedule, § 37-1 of this Code. Fees are also posted on the Town of Southington website.
(1) 
The fee for the first inspection for issuance of a certificate of occupancy for a residential dwelling is listed in the Fee Schedule.
(2) 
The fee for the first inspection for issuance of a certificate of occupancy for a commercial building is listed in the Fee Schedule.
(3) 
The fee for any subsequent inspection for issuance of a certificate of occupancy for either a residential dwelling or commercial building is listed in the Fee Schedule.
(4) 
The fee for any reinspection after correction of incompletions, correction of violations, or any reinspections for any reason designated by the Building Inspector or any assistant is listed in the Fee Schedule.
B. 
Penalties. Any owner, contractor or tenant or any of them, who occupies any residential dwelling or commercial building without first obtaining a certificate of occupancy shall be assessed by the Building Inspector a penalty as listed in the Fine Schedule, § 37-2, in Chapter 37, Fees and Fines.[1]
