There is hereby established an ambulance service for the City of Higginsville, Missouri, to serve an area which shall include but not necessarily be limited to a ten-mile radius from 20th and Main Streets, Higginsville, Missouri.

There shall be submitted by the EMS Director names of prospective Paramedics and EMTs which shall be approved by the City Administrator of the City of Higginsville, Missouri, in sufficient numbers to operate the ambulance on a twenty-four (24) hour basis and to ensure that there are two (2) technicians in the ambulance on each call.

For the purposes of this Chapter, the following terms shall mean:
EMT
Emergency medical technician.
EMT-P
Emergency medical technician—paramedic.

A. 
All regular full-time employees shall be paid in accordance with the City's adopted pay plan. Work hours will be scheduled by the EMS Director with approval of the City Administrator.
B. 
For the purpose of this Section, ''part-time employees" are defined as those employees who normally work less than thirty (30) hours per week on a schedule assigned by the EMS Director. The EMS Director shall approve proposed work schedules prior to the beginning of the work period.
