The following Chapter shall be known and may be cited hereinafter as the "Sign Code" of the City of O'Fallon, Missouri.

A. 
It is the intent of this Chapter to regulate and control the location, erection, number and maintenance of signs and matters relating thereto within the City of O'Fallon in order to promote public safety, health and general welfare of the community, without infringing upon the rights granted by the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America. These regulations are specifically designed to:
1. 
Provide for uniform regulation and orderly development of signs consistent with established policies and ordinances of the City;
2. 
Prohibit hazardous and dangerous signs; and
3. 
Provide a desirable and attractive living and working environment through harmonious and uniform signage.

A. 
If any court of competent jurisdiction shall declare any part of this Chapter to be invalid, such ruling shall not affect any other provisions of this Chapter not specifically included in said ruling.
B. 
If any court of competent jurisdiction shall declare invalid the application of any provision of this Chapter to a particular land, parcel, lot, district, use, building or structure, such ruling shall not affect the application of said provision to any other land, parcel, lot, district, use, building or structure not specifically included in said ruling.

The provisions of this Chapter shall be administered by the duly appointed designee of the Planning and Development Department, who shall be assisted by the City's Code Enforcement Officer(s).
