[HISTORY: Adopted by the Town Board of the Town of Lewiston 9-11-1967 by L.L. No. 2-1967 (Ch. 24 of the 1965 Code). Amendments noted where applicable]
The Town Board hereby finds that a serious hazard to life and property exists within the Town by reason of the discharge of rifles, bullets from which have reached property owned by the United States in lots 14 and 21, township 14, range 9, of the Holland Land Purchase, and occupied by a lessee of the Atomic Energy Commission, where there are stored large quantities of highly explosive or flammable materials; that the provisions of the Conservation Law with respect to discharge of firearms do not prohibit the discharge of such firearms within the area adjacent to said property; that the clear and present danger to life and property requires the Town Board to take action in the public interest.
No person shall discharge any rifle within the Town of Lewiston outside any incorporated village under such circumstances that the bullet therefrom can, either directly or by ricocheting, reach the property owned by the United States of America, located in lots 14 and 21, township 14, range 9, of the Holland Land Purchase, or any other place in which substantial quantities of explosive or highly flammable substances may be kept or stored.
