There is hereby established the office of Court Clerk for the
City of Ste. Genevieve Municipal Division of the Ste. Genevieve County
Circuit Court.
The Court Clerk shall attend all sessions of the Ste. Genevieve
Municipal Division of the 24th Judicial Circuit Court and may be required
to be present at the Ste. Genevieve City Hall to perform the duties
of the office at such additional times as the Mayor or Board of Aldermen
may specify. Compensation for the Court Clerk shall be established
by ordinance from time to time.

A. The
duties of the Clerk of the Municipal Court shall be as follows:
1. To collect fines from violations of such offenses as may be described
and the Court costs therefor;
2. To take oaths and affirmations;
3. To accept signed complaints and allow the same to be signed and sworn
to or affirmed before him/her;
4. To sign and issue subpoenas requiring the attendance of witnesses
and to sign and issue subpoenas duces tecum;
5. To accept the appearance, waiver of trial, plea of guilty and payment
of fines and costs in traffic cases or as directed by the Municipal
Judge and to generally act as the Violations Clerk for the traffic
cases;
6. To maintain, properly certified by the City Clerk, a complete copy
of this Code and all other ordinances of the City, which shall constitute
prima facie evidence thereof before the Municipal Court. Further,
to maintain similar certified copies on file with the Clerk of the
Circuit Court;
7. To perform all other duties as provided for by ordinance, by rules
of practice and procedure adopted by the Municipal Judge and by State
rules of practice and procedure for municipal and traffic courts and
by Statute.
