The township board may authorize a variance from these regulations when, in its opinion, undue hardship may result from strict compliance. In granting any variance, the township board shall prescribe any conditions that it deems necessary to, or desirable for, the public interest.

The township board, upon recommendation of the planning commission, may authorize a variance from these regulations in case of a plan for a cluster or planned unit development where such development is permitted by the zoning ordinance.
