When used in this Chapter, the following words shall have these prescribed meanings:
- Any individual, firm, partnership, corporation, association or other entity providing professional services.
- PROFESSIONAL SERVICES
- Services requiring expertise in a particular field, beyond the expertise in such field possessed by the City's officers and employees. Such fields of expertise include, but are not limited to, engineering, architecture, public improvements, urban planning, health care, employment practices, financial audit, tax collections, management, marketing, law, accounting, insurance and any other areas of services for which additional expertise is deemed necessary by the Board of Aldermen.
When the Board of Aldermen deems that the City is or may be in need of professional services, investigation shall be made in the manner directed by the Board of Aldermen concerning firms that provide the required professional services. On the basis of such investigation, the Board of Aldermen shall designate one (1) or more such firm for negotiation. Such negotiation shall be conducted as directed by the Board of Aldermen. The Board of Aldermen may then by ordinance approve a written contract for the required professional services.
