No electrical contractor or any person desiring to do any electrical work shall commence any wiring of any kind or new wiring installation until a permit has been issued by the Community Development Department.

No permit shall be required for minor electrical repairs, involving no construction, erection, alteration or change whatsoever, that are necessary and incident to the maintenance in good operative condition of an established plant, installation or system of wiring on or in any building where a duly qualified electrician is continuously employed by and for the employer solely as an electrician.
The City shall have the power to cause the interruption or termination of electric service to any premises when the electric thereof, upon inspection, is found to be in an unsafe or unsanitary condition or which has been installed contrary to or in violation of the City's adopted electrical code or any other provisions of this Chapter.

The fees for the permits required in this Article shall be as established in the City's Comprehensive Schedule of Fees.[1]
