A. 
Appointments are of four (4) types, listed and defined as follows:
1. 
Regular or full-time. Employment on a full-time basis shall mean a minimum of hours worked in any calendar year of one thousand eight hundred twenty (1,820).
2. 
Temporary. Employment on a full-time basis for a specific period of time not to exceed one hundred twenty (120) calendar work days. Examples of such employment include:
a. 
Appointments made on an emergency basis as authorized by the Mayor.
b. 
Provisional appointments as authorized by the Personnel Director, and
c. 
Appointments made to fill full-time openings expeditiously until arrangements can be made to secure a full-time employee through the normal selection process.
3. 
Part-time. Employment less than thirty-five (35) hours per week.
4. 
Seasonal. Employment for a period less than two hundred seventy (270) calendar days in a position defined as seasonal under the City's salary and compensation ordinance as adopted annually.

Appointments require the written recommendation of the respective Department Heads and approval by the Personnel Director except for those positions called for in the Charter which provide for approval by the Mayor and/or City Council.
