The purpose of this position is to provide the Village of Bosque Farms with clerical, dispatch and supportive services to the Village Police and the Municipal Court. The position functions under the supervision of the Chief of Police for the police work and the Municipal Judge for the judicial work.
The Police/Court Clerk:
A. 
Under general direction, performs typing, word processing, recording and filing of police and court correspondence, reports, forms and other related projects as determined by the Chief.
B. 
Provides information to the public on police and court matters, as appropriate.
C. 
Receives complaints from the public concerning crimes and emergencies; broadcasts orders as necessary to appropriate patrol units; records calls, broadcasts any complaints received, in accordance with established police procedures.
D. 
Must attend all Municipal Court hearings and may perform any combination of the following clerical duties for the Municipal Court relating to: the preparation of court dockets and case folders; contacting witnesses, attorneys and litigants to secure or provide information necessary for the court; and the recording of case dispositions and court orders.
E. 
Makes arrangements for, and oversees the collection of fees and court fines, and notifies various agencies of Municipal Court sentencing to be fulfilled.
F. 
Provides fiscal functions necessary to deposit and account for court receipts collected, and the disposition of checks for payment of court-related costs.
G. 
Prepares and submits required reports as needed.
H. 
Performs other duties as assigned.
The minimum requirements for the Police/Court Clerk are:
A. 
Knowledge of ability to interpret New Mexico Uniform Traffic Codes, Village ordinances and other appropriate regulations pertaining to law enforcement and court-related matters.
B. 
Ability to type accurately 60 words per minute and perform light bookkeeping functions.
C. 
Must obtain New Mexico Law Enforcement Academy Certification for radio transmission as specified by the New Mexico Law Enforcement Academy.
D. 
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
E. 
Ability to establish working relationships with the governing body, Village staff and the general public.
F. 
Knowledge of computer word processing and other program applications desirable.
G. 
Previous experience in similar duties preferred.
There will be a six-month probationary period, at which time an evaluation of job performance will be conducted and discussed with the employee. At this time, the employee will either be made a permanent employee, be allowed to continue on probationary period, not to exceed one year total, or be terminated based on evaluation results.
