A. Carport Defined. A "carport" is defined
as an attached or detached structure on a residential lot which is
designed or intended to contain one (1) or more vehicles, which is
open on one (1) or more sides, and which sides are visible from the
street, and which contains a roof.
B. Unlawful Storage. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm
or corporation to permit, keep, store or maintain, within a carport,
any item which is not specifically permitted by this Section.
C. Permissible Storage. The following items may be stored,
kept, parked and maintained in a carport: functional and licensed
vehicles and trailers, lawn mowers and patio furniture which is designed,
constructed and intended for exterior use as long as such patio furniture
is kept in a neat and orderly condition. All other household items
including, but not limited to, lawn maintenance equipment such as
leaf and snow blowers and edge trimmers, hand and power tools, and
items necessary for maintenance of the residential structure shall
not be kept or stored on the carport unless such items are in an enclosed
cabinet or tool box with functional doors capable of closing and shielding
all items from view of the street. Any storage cabinet or tool box
used to store the permissible items set forth herein shall be designed,
constructed and intended for exterior storage.

Permitted Car Covers. All car covers shall
be specially manufactured, form-fitting and shall be in good condition
with no tears, mold, or mildew, and shall only be permitted on vehicles
which are properly licensed and registered. No car cover shall be
permitted to be maintained on any vehicle parked on a street.

Any person violating any provision of this Article shall be punished in accordance with the general sentencing provisions in Section
100.220 of the Code of the City of Edmundson.
