(a) 
Short title. This section shall be known and cited as the Chesterfield Township Assault and Battery Ordinance.
(b) 
Purpose. The purpose of this section is to protect the health, safety and general welfare of the property and persons in Chesterfield Township from persons who attempt or offer, with force and violence, to do a corporal hurt to another, or assault and/or batter any other person.
(c) 
Enabling authority. This section is adopted in accordance with and pursuant to MCL 750.81.
(d) 
Prohibited conduct. It shall be unlawful for any person within the township to attempt or offer, with force and violence, to do a corporal hurt to another, or assault and/or batter any other person, within the boundaries of the township.
(e) 
Penalty. Any person who violates the provisions of this section shall upon conviction thereof, be guilty of a misdemeanor and subject to a penalty not to exceed $500 or imprisonment in the county jail for a period not to exceed 90 days, or both such fine and imprisonment.
