The City Clerk shall be elected by the Board of Aldermen as from time to time shall be necessary, and shall serve at the pleasure of the Board of Aldermen for an indefinite term. The City Clerk shall be responsible to and under the general supervision of the Board of Aldermen, who shall annually review, in March of each year, the performance, functions and duties of the City Clerk, but whose daily performance, functions and duties shall be under the direct supervision of the City Administrator.

A. 
The duties of the City Clerk shall be to:
1. 
Attend and keep minutes of all meetings of the Board of Aldermen and supervise the filing of Board minutes, records and other official documents.
2. 
Sign and certify City ordinances, resolutions, contracts, reports and other records and official documents within two (2) business days of receipt of any request therefore and supervise their transmittal and filing in appropriate books.
3. 
Supervise the issuance of all licenses, permits and receipts in the name of the City and the collection and accounting for funds therefor.
4. 
Perform such functions and duties as required of the City Clerk of a Fourth Class City by the laws of the State and this Code and other ordinances of the City.
5. 
Function as the custodian of records, being responsible for maintenance of all records of the City's public governmental bodies and the establishment of a public policy relating to meetings, records and votes of the City's governmental bodies.
6. 
Provide all data and information pertaining to the City and its business as requested by the Board of Aldermen or its individual members.

The salary of the City Clerk shall be as established from time to time by ordinance.

The City Clerk may be removed during his/her term of office only in accordance with Section 79.240, RSMo., dealing with appointive officers.
