The Shade Tree Advisory Board shall organize annually by election
of one of its members as President and the appointment of a Secretary,
who need not be a member of the Board.
The Shade Tree Advisory Board shall advise City Council from
time to time, orally and/or in writing, on the following shade tree-related
matters of the City:
A. The City's regulation, planting and care of shade and ornamental
trees and shrubbery now located, or which may hereafter be planted,
in any public highway, park or parkway, including the planting, trimming,
spraying, care and protection thereof;
B. The City's regulation and control of the use of the ground surrounding
the same, so far as may be necessary for their proper growth, care
and protection;
C. The City's movement or required removal of any tree, or part
thereof, dangerous to public safety;
D. The care for and control of parks and parkways and encouragement
of arboriculture;
E. The passage, alteration, amendment and repeal of ordinances by the
City Council;
F. The City's administration of the treatment to or removal of
any tree situated upon public and private property which is believed
to harbor a disease or insects readily communicable to neighboring
healthy trees in the care of the City.
G. The availability of certain grants and other funding, from any source,
that is related to and would further the purposes of the Shade Tree
Advisory Board enumerated in this section.
