The Fire Department shall consist of a Chief who shall be the
director of the department, together with such inferior officers within
the department as may be deemed necessary for the proper performance
of the duties of the department, and such number of Firefighters and
probationers as may be authorized from time to time. The Chief of
the Fire Department shall have general supervision and control of
the department, including the enforcement of discipline among the
members thereof and the instruction of the members in the duties of
their employment.

The Fire Department shall have the superintendence and control
of all engines and engine houses, hose carriages, and fire and life
saving apparatus and equipment of every kind belonging to the City.
It shall be the duty of the department to protect the citizens of
the City and all property located therein against fires, to carry
out and enforce all the provisions of this Code or other ordinances
relating to fire protection and prevention, and perform such other
duties as may be assigned.
