It shall be the duty of the Building Inspector to assign to all new structures and streets sufficient numbers and names to coincide as nearly as possible to existing streets and numbering sequences within the City and to obtain approval of such numbers and street names with the United States Post Office representative in charge of correlation thereof.

Any person desiring to construct any such street or structure shall consult with the Building Inspector before any plan for zoning or subdivision plat is filed with the Planning Commission to establish the building number or numbers, street name or names to be included on such building or street in the zoning plan or subdivision plat.

A. 
The Building Inspector, by and with the approval of the Governing Body, shall:
1. 
Designate the name by which all existing roads, streets, highways or public ways now dedicated to public use in the City shall be officially known and to rename the same and all others which may hereafter be opened or dedicated to public use if at any time in the judgment of the Building Inspector such action may be deemed advisable and proper.
2. 
Establish a uniform series of key numbers for all blocks and for such designated sections as may be deemed convenient upon all existing roads, streets, highways or public ways now dedicated to public use in the City, from which official street addresses for residence and business properties may be fixed in numerical order and to renumber the same and all others which may hereafter be established if at any time in the judgment of the Building Inspector such action may be deemed advisable and proper; provided all street names and numbers and all key numbers established and approved by the Governing Body prior to the adoption of these regulations shall remain in effect.
3. 
Approve or disapprove the designated name and block numbers of any proposed road, street, highway or public way to be opened or dedicated to public use and require that all of the same be properly named and numbered.
