The position of City Prosecutor is hereby created, which position shall be filled by appointment in accordance with the procedures set forth in Section 79.230, RSMo. Once appointed, any City Prosecutor may be removed in accordance with the provisions and procedures set forth in Section 79.240, RSMo.

The City Prosecutor shall be appointed by ordinance, which ordinance shall set forth any additional duties on his/her part to be performed together with the compensation to be paid.

The City Prosecutor shall be someone duly licensed to practice law in the State of Missouri and shall be primarily responsible for the prosecution of all violations of the municipal ordinances of the City of Strafford. The City Prosecutor shall have the responsibility of prosecuting all such municipal ordinance violations to conclusion, whether such conclusion occur in the Strafford municipal division of the Circuit Court of Greene County, Missouri; or in some other division of the Circuit Court of Greene County; or in the Appellate Courts of this State. The City Prosecutor shall have the responsibility, if requested by the Mayor anal Board of Aldermen, to perform those duties which would normally be performed by the City Attorney, whether such request be as a result of a vacancy in the office of City Attorney or to assist the City Attorney, all as provided in Section 79.230, RSMo.
